Dec. 9th, 2019 09:33 amIt's not that Michael thinks that Caleb is out on the streets and not getting meals. He knows he's not. And yet, he's associated so much with him that he can't help feel a pang that he needs to somehow improve his life because Michael had been out on the streets with no place to eat or sleep. He knows it's not like that, but he still feels like he should do something.
It's why he's invited Caleb over for a Sunday dinner with him and Alex, why he's been running around since mid-afternoon and getting everything prepared. There's pasta boiling on the stove, some parmesan and sauce ready to go, and he's got Alex making a salad (though he's not getting much done seeing as Michael's been lingering behind him and pestering him the whole time).
When he hears the knock at the door, he presses a last kiss to Alex's neck and makes sure the guitar is out (for Alex and for Caleb), checks that Bopp is kept in the bedroom so she doesn't tackle him, that the place is clean, and then he self-checks that he's ready for this.
It's unlike anything he's ever done before, but it's still a good idea. Right? Right.
So he heads to the door to open it, taking a deep breath to welcome Caleb in. "Hey, you found the place," he says warmly. "Welcome to our little oceanside palace."
